As part of LÉGENDES BOTANIQUES 2025, Emmanuelle RULLAND offers a reflection on the link between man and nature through two installations, highlighting the manual work of the gardener in the face of the excesses of the market gardening industry. Through this immersive work, she creates an in situ journey, where each scene evokes the gestures, tools, and traces left by the gardener, while raising essential questions about the environment.

CORTI IN SITU

In this first installation, gardening tools are recovered and then assembled to create a painting machine that becomes both a sculpture and a creative instrument. The artist interprets the gardener's gestures on canvas in a duo with the painting machine. The natural pigments and binders used reflect the care given to nature. Each plot presents an imprint of carrot tops, hidden then revealed by the movements of the machine, creating works "plantations" that impose themselves before the viewer, recalling the beauty of a hand-cultivated garden. On the wall, a video completes the installation

VERTICAL GARDEN

This installation focuses on the gardener's daily activities. Reclaimed, reclaimed, and sewn together tea towels serve as the medium for this exploration. The artist reproduces the gardener's gestures using his tools with paint and ink. Suspended between poles planted in a field, these works create the illusion of gardens seen from the sky, merging the installation with the surrounding landscape. The work becomes a direct extension of nature, reaffirming the unity between art and the environment.
