Emmanuelle RULLAND
Visual Artist

Emmanuelle RULLAND lives and works in Annecy. Her artistic career oscillates between studio research and site-specific creation.

Everything starts with a current or social issue. In a notebook where words, graffiti, sketches, and collages cover the pages, she deposits and gathers the first fragments of her inspiration. Then the laboratory begins. Her main mediums are painting and writing. She also collects other materials that sometimes become part of her work. Emmanuelle rarely uses stretchers because she needs to be as close as possible to the support. She favors close contact with the material in and on large formats both to better inhabit her works and to encourage a lively encounter with the work.

WORKS TO SAY, DO AND UNDO.

Lift the layers, peel back, abandon artifice, redo with a more instinctive gesture, reconcile with the raw, the essential, the primitive.

Emmanuelle's works speak without filters and bear witness to this quest for a direct link between her, the work and the viewer.
